The Parable of the Prodigal Son
Jesus’ Parable of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15:11-32 has always been a popular theme in culture – the adventure, the struggle, the loss, the repentance and then the forgiveness. I have included myself in a very personal way into the story here by relating the experience of the Prodigal Son to that of my own life. By looking at various theological discussions by Helmut Thielicke regarding this Biblical account and my personal observations as both a wayward son and a forgiving father, I have divided the story into 5 separate compositions. Here we see the wrongheadedness of our life, the many wrong turns, and here we see the everlasting arms that hold us up through it all. In it all I recognize myself, I recognize the blueprint and self-portrait of my own life.
